Raising our own beef has been a legacy for the Schmitt family. In order to know exactly what is in our meat, we raise our own cattle. Standing behind our belief of healthy products, our beef is free from growth hormones, feed additives and genetically modified organisms (GMO’s).
Working one-on-one with the environment, our free-range cattle graze the luscious and nutritious organic natural pasture through the growing season which lasts from approximately May to October. The baby calves spend the summer with their mothers to maximize the lactating period.
Once fall comes along, we put the horses to work by bringing the cattle home from the summer pasture. Once home, the herd eats free-choice alfalfa brome grass hay and are grain fed organic barley throughout the winter months. The calves are in a separate pen to feed more aggressively for the feeder market or finished for sale to consumers, while the bred cows are being readied for the next spring calving season.
Each and every animal is carefully and precisely
fed to ensure ongoing herd health and resistance to disease. Our goal for final product is delicious red
meat for human consumption.
